The Sun Comes Out In Old Town Shanghai

For the first time in 2012, the sun came out and the air was actually warm.  After a few months of grey skies and damp days, Saturday turned out to be a wonderful day to explore the compact area that is considered Old Town Shanghai.  This area has not been demolished for some massive skyscraper, and exudes some of the character that you can find in Beijing.

Here are some pics from our meanderings.

Lots of Chinese locals were making their summer kits purchases.

A peak at a prayer through the window and the door.

One of the many alleyways in which to lose oneself

Old Town with the Shanghai World Financial Center building (Shanghai's current tallest until 2014) in the background

Afternoon tea

More kites

Kites might be too boring - so let's buy a helicopter from this guy

Another snapshot of Shanghainese life in the alleys

Accidental? Chinese hipsters buying some streetside jewelry

Kate walking away from a deal?

Clothes are strung, and the people are out in the sun

Yeah - F U, you

Does Kate carrying an H&M bag mean that there is one nearby?
