Up on the Mountain - A Photo Blog

Please name for me another capital city in the world that allows you to go from your door to the top of a 10,000 foot mountain for some decent skiing in less than 25 minutes? I'm not sure there is another besides our home - Sofia.

Yesterday we walked from campus to the Mt. Vitosha gondola lift and up to the top for some boarding and skiing. Well, I should say that I was just the official photographer with a bum knee that prevents him from doing any of those two.

The crew ready for action - like Resevoir Dogs

Good thing they did not need to plow any snow today.

Bright skies, perfect blue conditions

Kate and Sarah dominating the slopes.

This view makes Sofia look quite nice, with little hint of the same dismal block building after block building.

Who does not love this?

Even in black and white it looks amazing.

Admiring the view.

Hey, where did this shirtless hunk come from?

I'm not sure about the translation here.

Later in the day the snow on this roof would fall in a tiny avalanche.

Going for Ansel Adams here.

Anybody else see a UFO?

I'm quite surprised with this line...it actually is a line!?!

Represent, baby baby!!!

Who would have thought that Gandalf's cousin, Micky, is living up on the mountaintop!

and he's selling maps!
